Company Safety Policy

 

Ashtale Contracting Ltd. is committed to protecting the health and safety of all individuals affected by our activities.  The health and safety of each employee and contractor, as well as the general public, is our highest priority. Management will take reasonable care to provide all mechanical, physical and training resources required for personal safety and health.  In fulfilling this commitment to protect people, property and environment, management shall strive to provide a safe and healthy work environment in accordance with industry standards and in compliance with legislative requirements.  We shall also strive to eliminate any foreseeable hazards which may result in property damage, accidents or personal injury/illness.  Where Ashtale Contracting Ltd. is faced with contractual or site-specific requirements that exceed our policy requirements, the higher standard requirements will prevail. 

 

Ashtale Contracting Ltd. recognizes that the responsibilities for health and safety are shared within our organization.  A successful Health and Safety Program must start with proper attitudes toward injury and illness prevention.  It requires cooperation in all safety and health matters, not only between management and employee, but also between each employee and his or her co-workers.  This cooperation shall also involve contractors. ALL contractors shall be treated the same as an employee and expected to follow all policies, practices and procedures the same as an employee.   Through such a cooperative effort, a safety program can be proven successful in maintaining a safe work environment.   

 

  • All levels of management will be responsible and held accountable for providing a safe work environment with proper equipment, tools, training and procedures, as well any other resources that may be necessary to complete expected job tasks.

 

  • Workers and contractors shall be responsible for applying their training, knowledge and skills to perform assigned tasks in compliance with the direction provided by supervisors and managers.

 

  • Everyone has the right to work in a safe and healthy work environment.All employees will be responsible for following all policies, practices and procedures; adhering to government regulations; working safely; and whenever possible, enhancing the safety program by suggesting improvements to practices and procedures, exposing hazards and taking appropriate corrective measures to ensure a safe work environment.

 

  • Complete and active participation by everyone, every day, in every job, is expected. This shall include management, employees and contractors.

 

  • We support and follow all regulations as per the OH & S Act, Regulation and Code, Alberta Transportation Legislation, WCB, as well as Manufacturer’s Guidelines.

 

  • We will ensure all activities performed by the company and its employees/contractors will meet or exceed applicable Provincial regulations together with those of the industry.

 

  • Ashtale Contracting Ltd shall also ensure the Health and Safety Policy is enforced by regular audits, reviews and inspections, with supporting documentation provided.

No person associated with the business practice of Ashtale Contracting Ltd. shall put themselves, other people, the environment, our assets or our operations at risk.  Our objective is a Health and Safety Program that will ensure our employees are protected so at the end of the work day everyone gets to go home to their families.
